Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza is in no way something new or unprecedented, but in fact rooted in Israel’s existence as a brutal settler-colony existing to protect Western interests in the Middle East. Such arguments around Israel’s existence as such a state is succinctly developed in the pamphlet Palestine: Resistance, Revolution, and the Struggle for Freedom, while a history of Palestinian resistance to Israeli occupation is detailed in Philip Marfleet’s Palestine, Imperialism, and the Struggle for Freedom.

Ilan Pappe, an Israeli historian who is perhaps one of the most prolific pro-Palestine writers, has a range of fantastic titles on Palestine, particularly The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine covering the 1948 Nakba and A Very Short History of the Israel-Palestine Conflict which was written to provide a gateway into understanding the conflict for those disgusted with Israel’s actions since 2023.
